KCCA FC started their 2020/21 season with a 2-1 victory over Bright Stars on Thursday at Kavumba Recreation Stadium.

KCCA was the better side in the first half with Brian Aheebwa, Keziron Kizito posing all sorts of problems for the hosts.

Aheebwa opened the lead through half volley in the 24th minute assisted by Kizito.

KCCA then doubled the lead four minutes after Aheebwa dribbled past Derrick Ngoobi before laying it on a plate for Ssenyonjo.

In the second half, the introduction of Augustine Kacancu gave Bright Stars some rhythm and they looked deadly in the final third creating plenty of scoring opportunities that they failed to convert.

Bright Stars scored a consolation in the 83rd minute through a Joseph Akandwanaho header off Simon Ssemayange's cross.

This was the first league match played without any fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the unusual atmosphere was hard to ignore.

The league resumes Friday with Mbarara City hosting URA FC at Kakyeka Stadium while SC Villa travels to Jinja to play BUL.

Police will host Wakiso Giants in the third game of the day.
