When Rebecca Naiga, 32, was pregnant with her first child, she complained of general body weakness and swelling of the legs.

When she was eight months pregnant, her situation worsened and she could not go on with the pregnancy, she had a premature baby at eight months. It is at that time that doctors at Rubaga Hospital found out that her kidneys were damaged.

Though the baby girl she delivered through C-section is now nine months old, Naiga is still fighting for her life and she is seeking for financial assistance for a kidney transplant in India before the end of December.

The former news anchor at Radio City is seeking for sh150m for treatment and that includes surgeries of the recipient and donor, consumables and bed cost.

Naiga was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure last year. Since then, she has been on dialysis at Nsambya hospital.

Kidney (renal) failure is the inability of the organs to adequately filter metabolic waste products from the blood, control the amount and distribution of body water and the levels of electrolytes in the blood.

Right now, she cannot take more than a litre of water a day, she is in great pain and she is always in and out of hospitals. She is at the last stage of kidney disease, where dialysis and kidney transplant are the only treatment option.

"She goes for dialysis three times a week and whenever she goes, we spend sh350,000. I am calling upon well-wishers to come and rescue my wife's life. We have a baby who needs her," said JohnMary Kirima, the husband.

Her heart is getting strained by high blood pressure.

Naiga's husband is appealing to the public to donate towards his wife's treatment. You can reach out to them through our CSR number👉👉 0786145102.
