The Electoral Commission has issued letters cancelling nomination of two aspirants for Member of Parliament representing Terego West Constituency in the newly created Terego District.
The candidates are Egama Sam Raxton Adrapi an independent and Andua Martin Drani who is on the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) ticket.
Jackson Hygenyi, the regional electoral commission officer - West Nile confirmed to New Vision on Tuesday that he received the letters cancelling the nomination of the two candidates.
The Parliamentary seat initially attracted seven candidates, but the decision taken has left five candidates in the race.
Candidates left in the race are Joel Leku on NRM ticket, Moses Swali on FDC ticket, Chris Mulema, Bosco Ajobe and Moses Angundru all independent.
The letter written to Egama followed a complaint lodged by Emmanuel Candia from Idayi Parish in Aiivu sub-county in Terego West County.
In a meeting that was held on Friday, October 3o, 2020 concerning the complaint, EC informed Egama that, a deliberation was done on the issues raised and found out that Egama Sam Raxton Adrapi presented "O" and "A" level certificates in the names of Egama Sam Raxton but his nomination contained the names of Eagama Sam Raxton Adrapi and he did not provide any legal explanation in respect of the name discrepancies.
The EC under minutes' comp 197 (a)/2020, resolved that candidate Egama Sam Raxton Adrapi was ineligible to participate in the fourth-coming elections.
Similarly, the commission discovered Andua Martin Drani presented "O" and "A" level certificates in the names of Andua E Drani yet his certificates for bachelors of Arts and Post Graduate Diploma had the names Drani Andua and Andua Drani respectively.
Andua equally did not attach deed poll as is required under section 36 of the registration of persons Act, 2015 leading to his denomination.
The parties appeared before the electoral commission tribunal in Kampala on October 30, 2020. The two accused respondents filed a defence and were told to wait for the verdict of the ruling.
