Museveni commissions 44km Bumbobi-Lwakhakha road

The road was funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Uganda.

President Yoweri Museveni has on Tuesday (December 1, 2020) commissioned the 44km Bumbobi-Lwakhakha Road that connects Mbale to Kenya.

According to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Media Relations Manager Allan Ssempebwa, the construction of the road is complete and it will greatly help boost trade between Uganda and Kenya.

"The Bumbobi -Lwakhakha road, which is 44.5 Km long, is part of the national roads network and traverses the Districts of Mbale, Manafwa, and Namisindwa and will promote regional integration and cross border trade with Kenya," Ssempebwa said.

The construction works were undertaken by M/s China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd and supervision services were provided by M/s Studio Galli Ingegneria in Joint Venture with SARI Consulting Ltd and Anchor Engineering Services. 

The road was funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Uganda.
