Toro mourns iconic leader

Toro kingdom is mourning the death of Charles Karugaba Muhanga. Karugaba was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon after battling diabetes for over 30 years.

Vincent Mugume, the deputy kingdom information minister said Karugaba had served the kingdom in different capacities for over 20 years.

"The encyclopedia of Toro" as referred to by many, served as the chief guide of the palace culturally known as "Kibale and was also part of the delegation that agitated for the restoration of the Kingdom," Mugume said in a statement released on Sunday morning.

"As a Kingdom, we will miss the knowledge that he always shared freely, he added.


Margret Muhanga the Burahya county MP and sister to the deceased said that the family was yet to finalise burial arrangements.

"He was a very instrumental man who was greatly concerned about the restoration of Toro kingdom and he loved his culture. He served Toro selflessly and above all, he cherished peace and unity, Muhanga said
