IBANDA - Presidential candidate Fred Mwesigye has suspended his campaigns scheduled in south-western districts due to sickness.
His media relations manager, Jackson Katende confirmed Friday (November 27, 2020), saying the presidential hopeful has returned to Kampala for medical attention.
On Friday, Mwesigye was to canvass for votes in Ibanda, Kazo as well as Kitagwenda districts.
According to Katende, they were also expected to campaign in Kiruhura and Kamwenge before proceeding to Busoga region with rallies in Jinja on Monday.
He added that Mwesigye had just covered the Kigezi region, including Kisoro, Kabale, Rukungiri, and Kanungu. He also campaigned in Ntungamo and Mbarara districts.
"His campaign trail has been suspended as the candidate seeks treatment in Kampala. We shall reorganise when he gets better and announce in newspapers when he will return to the region," Katende said.
However, the Independent presidential aspirant will need to up his game and announce his campaign programme to attract voters to show up and listen to his message.
As he was scheduled for Ibanda, he would have passed through the district streets unnoticed as the town is devoid of his campaign posters.
It's not surprising therefore that most people were not aware he had a rally in Ibanda town on Friday.
Charles Musinguzi, a hardware dealer in Ibanda, said he has not even heard about the candidate nor his coming to Ibanda.
"For us, we are waiting for (President) Museveni and Bobi Wine. The others we don't care," Musinguzi said.
