2021 ELECTIONS |

President Yoweri Museveni will be in Sironko district on Thursday, as he continues with the campaigns to be re-elected to retain his seat in the January 2021 General elections.

He also, this morning tweeted, "I will be in Sironko District today for a meeting with our leaders, as part of the continuing engagements with our people of Bugisu sub-region."

Sironko is a district in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The district was created in 2000 and had previously been part of Mbale district. Sironko is the main commercial town in the district.

Sironko district is bordered by Bulambuli district to the north, Kapchorwa and Kween districts to the north-east, Kenya to the east, Bududa district to the south-east, Mbale district to the south-west, and Bukedea district to the west.

Sironko is approximately 22 kilometres, by road, north-east of Mbale, the largest city in the Bugisu sub-region.

In the last Presidential elections, only 49% of the 82,805 registered voters in this district voted for Museveni.

It is one reason he needs to be in this place, to assure them on what he needs to deliver for the people and what he has done in the last five years.

Museveni will on Thursday head to Sironko, before getting into Kapchorwa.

He is in the race with 10 others, who are also combing various parts of the country, in the short period availed to them by the Electoral Commission (EC).
