Lukwago was flown to Nairobi for treatment

Kampala City Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura has said her boss, Erias Lukwago, is not in critical condition.

Nyanjura said the Lord Mayor was diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis and doctors found it necessary that further examination and management be conducted.

Following the doctors' advice, he left for Nairobi where he is receiving treatment, Nyanjura said.

The World Allergy Organisation defines anaphylaxis as "an acute, potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction, involving the release of mediators from mast cells, basophils and recruited inflammatory cells."

Symptoms include; feeling lightheaded or faint, breathing difficulties - such as fast, shallow breathing, wheezing, a fast heartbeat, clammy skin, confusion and anxiety, and collapsing or losing consciousness.
