Toro royal succumbs to COVID a month to her wedding

Toro Kingdom is mourning the death of Princess Ruth Cox, 62, who passed away on Tuesday morning.

Cox a member of the Toro royal family succumbed to COVID-19 at Mulago Hospital in Kampala according to close members of the family.

"It's very unfortunate that we have lost a very hard-working lady and she loved her kingdom and always supported the kingdom activities," said Richard Businge a resident of Rwengoma in Fort Portal City.

Princess Cox in September introduced her fiancé in a ceremony at her family home in Karambi and she was set to wed in December.

Mugume Vincent the Toro kingdom deputy information minister said that the death of the royal is a very big blow to the kingdom.

"As a kingdom we have not yet come out with an official statement. We just learnt of her death this morning and it is very unfortunate that we have lost her," Mugume said.

Kasigazi William the NRM publicity secretary for Fort Portal City said that Cox has been a great friend to many people.

"She was instrumental and she always encouraged young people to work had. She has been examplary and she will be missed by many," Kasigazi said.
