Fr Lumanyika laid to rest at Rubaga Cathedral

CELEBRATING LIFE 

Tributes have been paid to Rev Fr Joseph Lumanyika Nsubuga, the former youth chaplain of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala, who succumbed to a heart attack on Friday (November 20), aged 55.

Prior to his passing on, Lumanyika was the Chaplain of St Augustine College Wakiso.

He was also the chaplain of the Catholic Workers Movement.



Lumanyika's tributes were delivered during his funeral mass at Lubaga Cathedral on Monday (November 23).

Delivering his homily during the requiem mass, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga described Fr Lumanyika as a dedicated priest, who served God's people with joy and love.

"He willingly took up every assignment that was given to him, without complaining. He loved people and served them with total dedication. He was generous and hardworking. He always brought happiness to the people among whom he worked."

Justice Stephen Mubiru, who spoke on behalf of the relatives, said Fr Lumanyika was a personification of peace, reconciliation and unity in the family.



The Chairman of the association of the priests of Kampala Archdiocese, Fr Francis Xavier Kikomeko said Fr Lumanyika loved the clerical association and always took active interest and participation in its affairs.



Others who eulogised Lumanyika included the headteacher of St Augustine College Wakiso, Fr Benedict Kaweesi and the Vice-Chancellor of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala, Fr Dr Pius Male Sentumbwe.
