Changing landscape at D-Arena threatens pool

February 2021 has been set as the possible target for a league start

There are rising fears in the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) fraternity that the Namirembe Road-based D-Arena Bar and Grill formally known as Lumas may not be able to host any pool events.

The location got new management and is no longer owned by Bobby Tamale who was formerly manager of CKI Pool Club. The new owners have put new changes at the venue which could affect the pool fraternity.

"I personally actually visited the place when they were changing management and it looks like the setup itself of D-Arena is changing. They are changing the physical set up so it might not be ideal anymore. That whole sitting area for the fans was removed although they said they were willing to host events if we needed," PAU chairman Bob Trubish said.

The question is with the removal of the sitting area which gave the place an indoor stadium feel, the place may not be suitable anymore.

For that Trubish believes when the sport resumes it's only right to focus on other venues.

"It's just that even if the events were to be hosted, the set-up may be inconvenient. We might have to look at other venues like Temuseo and other venues," Trubish added.

PAU has set February 2021 as a possible date for a league start but it all hinges on sponsors. If they can get a few in it will indeed kick-off.
