70-year old woman chopped to death

LAMWO - Police is hunting for two assailants that hacked a 70-year old woman, Jesca Labonyo - repeatedly using an axe in  Mudu village, Lamwo district.

She died instantly, according to Police.

Labonyo, was found dead by her nephew David Akena, on Friday, November 20, 2020 morning at around 6:00am - while on his way to the garden.

Preliminary Police findings indicate that Akena, wanted his deceased aunt to go with him so that he could give her some beans from his garden.

"When he reached the home, which is approximately 50 meters away from his home, he found the door of the grass thatched hut opened, he called on the aunty but she could not answer.

Hence, he pushed the door and entered inside only to find her dead inside," a copy of the police report seen by New Vision reads.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a homicide detective attached Lamwo Police station said; "She was hit several times with an axe which was left beside her dead body."  

By press time, no suspect had been arrested though investigations continue.
