Police arrests man's associate caught on camera assaulting its officer

Onyango confirmed the arrest of the associates noting that they were tracked down using the video footage and police cameras.

KAMPALA - Security agencies on Thursday (November 19, 2020) tracked down and arrested associates of a man who was caught on video assaulting a police officer around the old taxi park with a hammer. 

Police noted that the officer was assaulted as she tried to clear part of the wooden stalks that the rioters wanted to set on fire. 

Police also arrested Dennis Kasozi who was also caught on Camera throwing a stone at the officer after she was hit with a hammer.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest of the associates noting that they were tracked down using the video footage and police cameras.

"We arrested Kasozi who was involved in the assault but also have an associate of the main victim and they are currently giving us information about him," Onyango stated.

The New Vision has also learnt that the Joint Security Task Force had spent the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning reviewing footage recorded by CCTV cameras to identify prime suspects who were involved in Wednesday chaos that rocked several parts of the country.

Among those being hunted include suspects who were arrested tearing down posters of the National Resistance Movement flagbearers, those who set up roadblocks in different parts of Kampala, Masaka, Jinja, and Mbale. 

Also being hunted down are suspects who were involved in setting up fires in different locations.
