Lands minister and Rubaga North constituency hopeful Beti Olive Namisango Kamya has said a vote given to an opposition candidate is a wasted vote.

Kamya said people should vote for those with a good relationship with the government since it is the one that collects taxes and allocates the money to different areas for better service delivery.

"There are a lot of government projects meant for all Ugandans however many opposition MPs do not lobby for them as they are busy fighting the government," she said.

Kamya made the remarks while addressing her supporters in a meeting at St Andrews Church Kawaala Rubaga division on Monday.

She added that many opposition MPs deliberately block government programs so that people can be poor and push all the blame to the government.

Kamya further said Rubaga North and many other constituencies are lagging behind in development because their representatives do not engage top government officials like ministers on problems in their areas.

"If one is associated with the government in power, they can influence the distribution of funding for their area problems to be solved, unlike those in the opposition who only keep talking about the challenges to the media," she said.

Kamya further asked voters not to elect people who are looking for salaries to solve personal challenges but those who are already financially stable with only the urge to serve people.

Before the meeting, Kamya went door-to-door in Kasubi parish canvassing for votes.

Kamya was seen jumping drainage trenches and pleading to people including the young to lure others to vote for her promising to develop the constituency.

She promised to improve people's livelihood by lobbying for government programs like NAADS.

Kamya wants to unseat the incumbent Moses Kasibante who is contesting as an independent in a race that also has National Unity Platform's Abubaker Kawalya who is the current speaker of KCCA.
