SOROTI - Presidential hopeful Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has urged his supporters all over the country to remain peaceful throughout their presidential campaigns.

Kyagulanyi made the remarks as he addressed the press on Sunday (November 15, 2020) at Eneku village in Soroti district about his daily campaign trail.


"From here we are heading to Kumi, Sironko, and to Mbale districts. We are aware of the oppression and violence that awaits us but we continue to say that we are not violent and we shall not be," Kyagulanyi said.

He added, "We don't throw stones, don't use violent language, and discourage anybody throwing stones at Police and the Military."

On Thursday while on Urban TV, senior elections officer Sarah Namugambe defended Police's action against some presidential candidates, who she said are defying campaign guidelines.

"The Police is not targeting the opposition candidates. Your life is your responsibility. Ugandans should not wait for the Electoral Commission (EC) to tell them to wear masks and observe standard operating procedures. What will happen if a candidate wakes up on polling day when his or her voters are all bedridden?" she asked.


Namugambe was responding to the Police's actions of firing teargas to disperse supporters of some candidates.
