Sheebah, Navio, Allibhai unveiled as Kampala Innovation Week panelists

The panelists will be able to engage with various innovators over a period of three days through which they will train, mentor and grow the innovators.

Despite the arrival of an uninvited guest, Covid-19, this year, the annual Kampala Innovation Week (KIW) is bouncing back this year, set for November 26 to 28.

KIW, just like in the previous years, is set to offer a wide platform to various startups to showcase what they have in as far as innovation is concerned.

Organized by Startup Uganda and The UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the 4th edition of KIW is going to be a virtual one, again, because of Covid-19, with a host of panelists, speakers taking on each startup via various online platforms like WHOVA.

Today, the panelists to be part of the event have been unveiled, fueling excitement ahead of the show.

To begin with, Holic Pads Director and musician, Sheebah Karungi was revealed as part of the Talent Africa Creative Innovation panel.

This particular panel will discuss the theme - "Entertainment as a medium for introducing new technologies by Startups: A Ugandan perspective".

According to, Aly Allibhai, the Chief Executive Officer of Talent Africa Group, and a panelist as well, the entertainment industry has generally been the most immediate route of introducing new technologies to consumers.

"Especially in the area of home entertainment, content consumption has been transformed from relying on stationary media, such as home theatre and gaming console/PC to becoming mobile," he says

Other panelists unveiled include musician, Daniel Lubwama, also known as Navio, Louis Lwanga, Head of Entertainment, Sports and Media Law, Katende, Ssempebwa and Co Advocates, Brand Purple CEO Douglas Lwanga and Comedian Alex Muhangi.

"These technological advancements are rooted in business and scientific innovations that have been adapted for creative markets and this particular panel features prolific and enterprising personalities in the Ugandan entertainment/creative sector," Allibhai added.

The panelists will be able to engage with various innovators over a period of three days through which they will train, mentor and grow the innovators.
