Democratic Party leaders in Kasese district have confirmed that they have not yet secured the campaign venue for their presidential candidate Norbert Mao who is expected to campaign in the district on Thursday.

Mao was expected to launch his campaigns in Kasese on Wednesday but he didn't turn up and there was no any communication to the party members who were waiting for him.

A number of DP supporters who showed up at the DP offices in Nyakasanga in Nyamwamba division for the launch were welcomed by a calm environment with no physical signs of any activity.

Joseph Kule Mutabazi the DP party chairman said  Thursday morning that they cannot secure a venue because they were not sure of his program.

"We have decided to keep Mao's visit to Kasese  top secret because of security concerns and we cannot reveal his program in the district we shall only inform our members when he has reached in the district," Mutabazi said.

Mutabazi said that they had failed to agree with the police on his program because according to his schedule he was expected on Wednesday but he didn't turn up.

"We have held meetings with the police to agree on our proposed program but they informed us that he can only hold a radio talk show and meet journalists, they will not allow him to go to the sub-counties of Kitabu and Karusandara as we had arranged," Mutabazi said.

Samuel Asiimwe the Rwenzori east regional police commander said on Wednesday that police did not expect any presidential candidate in Kasese on Thursday.

"We don't expect any presidential candidate in the district on Thursday we were only informed of Mao's visit to Kasese on Wednesday and we didn't permit them to hold any public gathering," Asiimwe said.

Bernadette Businge ,the DP party flag bearer for Busongora North Parliamentary seat said that they were also still waiting for communication from the headquarters.

"As of now we don't have Mao's campaign program we are also still waiting to hear from him and we shall inform the public when he informs us," Businge said.

The party's leadership in the district is struggling to constitute campaign coordination committees for their presidential candidate in Kasese as more of their lower structure leaders decline to take up the responsibilities in favor of the Alliance for National Transformation's (ANT) candidate Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu.
