Uganda has reported six new deaths and confirmed 289 new cases of Covid-19 from tests done on November 10, 2020.

The country now has cumulative confirmed cases of 14,993 patients and 7,939 recoveries.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Health, Kampala registered the biggest number of cases recording 104 infections followed by Wakiso which had 28, Lira (45), Kasese (26), Gulu (12), Kabale (8), Masaka (7), Apac (7), Kwania (5), Mukono (6), Adjumani (5), Rubanda (4), Luwero (4), Amolatar (3), Kabarole (4), Jinja (3), Moyo (2), Amuru (3), Ntungamo (1), Kyotera (1), Iganga (1), Arua (2), Buvuma (1), Nebbi (5).

Two truck drivers tested positive at the Elegu and Mirama Hills Points of Entry.

On Monday the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng implored Ugandans to adhere to the preventive measures instituted by President Yoweri Museveni and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which included washing hands, keeping social distance and wearing masks among others.

"Please wear a face mask when in public, maintain a social distance of at least two meters, wash your hands with soap frequently or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and avoid unnecessary movement to crowded places.

Practicing these preventive measures and adhering to SOPs will enable us to sustain the strides achieved as a nation," Aceng noted.

On Monday, the Electoral Commission (EC) officially allowed presidential and other aspirants to officially start campaigns.

Even though the EC had officially stated that presidential candidates should not address more than 70 people and also banned processions, the Ministry of Health in a phased lifting of COVID-19 lockdown allowed over 200 people to attend political rallies, weddings, and church events, among others.

Some of the presidential contestants and political leaders have, however, thrown caution to the wind and have processions and large gathering following them, raising fears of increased numbers of COVID-19 infections the country is set to face in the oncoming days.
