Maj. Gen. Matayo Kyaligonza is alive - Foreign affairs

KAMPALA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wednesday (November 11, 2020) clarified that Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi is not dead.

In a tweet, the Ministry said, "The Ministry has learnt of false reports circulating on social media alleging that Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi is dead.

These media reports are false. The Ministry confirms that Ambassador Kyaligonza is alive and well, and is on duty serving the country."

The New Vision has learnt that it was Bunyoro Kingdom oil minister who doubles as the national quarry operators Chairman Dr George Kyaligonza also known as Bukudda of Buswekera proprietor of Muyenga stone quarry who was dead. 

"Bukudda was a great friend and admirer of Gen. Kyaligonza. So, it's for this reason and others that many people in and around Kampala are confusing the two," a family source confirmed.
