I and my campaign team have nothing to feed on - Mayambala

Presidential hopeful Willy Mayambala has said he has no money to purchase food for himself and his campaign aides who include security officers from the Electoral Commission (EC).

Mayambala said they are always on the road but don't have even a penny to buy snacks to feed on during campaigns.

"This is day two but I and my team have no food, we are starving. I don't know whether I will not die during these campaigns, because, the coming days are going to be worse," he lamented.

The candidate made the statements while traversing Kampala city to ask dwellers to vote for him in the coming presidential elections.

Mayambala said he joined the presidential race with ideas to tell people but not money to fund the campaigns.

Mayambala, who was travelling in a Toyota Spacio vehicle with other five people said he delayed starting his campaigns because he had to plead with his friends to lend him a car.

"Even when friends lend me a car, I often get stuck on the road because I can't afford fuel," he said.

He asked well-wishers to donate money to him to help him fund his campaigns.

In Kampala, Mayambala went to Kiyembe lane, Nakasero market, Nakawa, Kireka market, Kiseka market, where he received mixed reactions from voters.

A section of voters asked Mayambala to reduces the taxes imposed on them by tax bodies, which in response promised to do.

Some voters were heard asking Mayambala to join other presidential candidates to front one person from the Opposition to take on the incumbent in order to achieve victory.

As Mayambala traversed the city, there was no heavy deployment of security forces, only those from his security detail were seen around.
