The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba has said that retired Rev. David Sekibaale, who is in police custody for allegedly killing his wife, rejected Church counselling services while still in church ministry.
"We understand that her husband, David Sekibaale, had resigned from the Ministry in the Church of Uganda three years ago and refused counseling at the time, and that he is currently in police custody. Nevertheless, we pray for him and for light to shine in all the dark places, wherever they may be. We trust in the words of the bible, ‘You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free," Kaziimba said.
He made the statement in his November 9, letter addressed to the Luweero Diocese Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Eridad Nsubuga.
Kaziimba prayed for an open and transparent investigation into the cause of death and ensure that she gets justice.
"Be assured as well, of our prayers for you, her children and all those seeking answers and mourning the loss of mama Sekibaale. Lord, have mercy," he said.
Deborah Sekibaale, a mother of four children was the headteacher of Kikamulo Church of Uganda Primary in Nakaseke District. Her gruesome death took place at her home on Monday this week.
It is alleged that she and her husband had long unresolved domestic conflict. Sekibaale, was arrested by police in Luwero district and her body taken for a postmortem. Several accounts from neighbours revealed that the body had burns.
