Uganda Cranes duo Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru and Alex Kakuba have withdrawn from the squad in preparation for the doubleheader against South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Striker Mubiru who was set to make his debut picked up an ankle injury on Friday while according to Cranes coach Jonathan McKinstry, Kakuba has withdrawn over health issues.
Reports however indicate that Kakuba tested positive for COVID-19 and that he could not recover in time for both ties.
McKinstry will now turn to strikers Edirisa Lubega and Derrick Nsibambi to fill the void left by Mubiru while Vipers' Disan Galiwango will replace Kakuba even though Joseph Ochaya is still the first choice in the left-back position.
Uganda takes on South Sudan on Thursday at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende before facing off again four days later in Nairobi.
South Sudan arrived in the country on Sunday and is currently residing at Imperial Botanical Hotel in Entebbe.
The contingent of 32 people has striker Tito Okello and midfielder Ivan Wani who are familiar faces in the country.
