The Ugandan left-back only started training with Montreal on Friday

Mustafa Kizza has barely spent a month in Montreal.

But his instant influence at Montreal Impact - on the evidence of their 3-2 win over DC United - is fast entrenching him in the hearts of the club's fans and manager Thierry Henry.

Victor Wanyama, Bojan Krkic, and Romello Quioto scored for Montreal as Kizza made headlines on his debut.

The Ugandan left-back only started training with Montreal on Friday after a familiarization exercise that saw the 20-year-old tour the club's facilities before meeting Henry and teammates at the club's new training facility at Centre Nutrilait.

And yet when he was summoned for duty in the 71st minute of his club's decisive playoff, he showed no nerves or trouble fitting into the club's tactical formation.

Before Kizza's introduction, Montreal were trailing 2-1. They needed defensive solidity and urgency going forward to rescue the game.

With Kizza on the pitch, Victor Wanyama equalized in the 74th minute before the Ugandan stepped forward and set up Mason Toye for the decisive breakthrough.

Against the run of play, Toye received Kizza through ball, and crossed to Romell Quioto for the all-important goal.

The result meant Montreal finished ninth in the Eastern Conference and will face New England Revolution in a play-off match on November 20.
