For some good time, many Ugandans have been waiting for this moment when they can all have a conversation about the politics of their country and mainly to choose who best suits to be their President and those that can represent them in parliament and other leadership levels.

This week started on a high note as presidential nominations started at Kyambogo cricket oval grounds, all presidential candidates picked days on which they wanted to be nominated according to their programs and to officially start the nominations was President Yoweri Museveni the incumbent and leader of all seasons.

Monday was a very peaceful day as President Museveni went for the nomination, NRM supporters all over the country were very calm, organized and didn't make any serious processions on the streets to break the covid19 standard operating procedures and I saw the president waving to his supporters from within his car.

The other two army Generals Mugisha Muntu of ANT and Henry Tumukunde also got nominated on Monday together with Nancy Kalembe and Katumba who were bounced for not having proof of payments for the nomination fees.

The day was so calm with business running normally but everyone expected disaster on Tuesday because those that asked to be nominated on Tuesday were all populist candidates in nature and they were announcing how they wanted to have processions escorting them for nominations something that was already against the rules as by the electoral commission.

Indeed what was expected on Tuesday really happened, in Uganda some politicians can not give chance to preachers to do prophesies because their deeds are always expected.

Hon Kyagulanyi who is contesting on the National Unity Platform was meant to appear at 10 am but because he is a populist, he had to make sure there are running battles between his supporters and security, all they always aim at is to make the security act rough and they always achieve.

We are being faced with too many problems in this world and sometimes I am forced to think that Politics and leadership is one of the lead troubles of us the African people.

In my opinion, society in general, but specifically political structures, work best in a hierarchical model - fewer and fewer people as you work your way up to the top where there's one person responsible.

Personally, I believe in a model of the political hierarchy where one leader is surrounded by "men of action", people who have proven their competence in a given sphere and have actual experience in an area of work i.e., not career politicians that are old fashioned and cannot offer any developmental kind of strategy like those that crossed from democratic Party and Joined NUP just because they think it's where they will regain their parliamentary positions from.

The current model of politics in Uganda is that people come out of wherever they have been and immediately get involved in the politics of the country.

Ugandans have seen a range of politicians from all spheres of life, the comedians, the kickboxers, the political businessmen and women, the stage performers, the known political commentators to mention but a few.

We have identified ourselves with politicians who have for long wanted to bring this kind of populism to the masses and many more upcoming politicians are using the same populism ideology and what everyone should know is that Populists are dividers, not uniters as all can see from the speech that Kyagulanyi gave after his nomination.

The presence of media houses and journalists who are just mere activists has also become a serious problem to our politics because it has given a lot of mileage to these kinds of populist leaders who easily get romanced by the presence of camera in front of them, they can act and say all kinds of statements in front of the camera just to entertain and make sure the local people see them as saints.

These populists like Kyagulanyi and Amuriat believe that disobeying lawful orders and abiding by democratic principles can't work out for them in achieving political mileage.

They have split the society into two homogenous and antagonistic groups: the pure people on the one end and the activists elite on the other, and you hear them always saying that they're guided by the will of the people.

Who of their electorates has ever sent them to parliament to shout, or who of their voters has ever told them to go against the laws of the country?

I just think that at least all political parties should have a systematic scheme of ideas, usually relating to politics, economics, or society and forming the basis of action or policy; a set of beliefs governing conduct and this will at least help electorates know who the real leaders are.

President Museveni outlined Security, Good Health, and a Better economy in his next term under the theme "securing your future."

On Tuesday Hon Kyagulanyi got nominated and presented a very long interesting poem that was well written in better stanzas and choruses making it the best entertainment political poem of this season.

In one of the choruses of his poem that he narrated, he promised us to be economically empowered, very good facilities, and assured security that they will be paid 1million per month.

It was all happiness and smiles on my face as he went on and on re-emphasizing some of his points especially issues of paying security and rebuilding Uganda.

Since I am a very great fan of poetry, my interest was in the arrangement of the stanzas but I never found anything real in the whole document that he read to us live on Television and I think candidate Katumba said everything off-head but he had good points.

Congratulations to everyone who got nominated especially the only lady from Busoga Nancy Kalembe May the best candidate President Museveni win this election.
