KAMPALA - John Katumba, the youngest aspirant and an independent Presidential candidate, has finally been nominated by the Electoral Commission.

The 25-year-old, who was sent away yesterday after failing to pay sh20m and lacking a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), turned up at the nomination centre on Tuesday having met all the conditions.

The fresh graduate from Makerere becomes the youngest Presidential aspirant in the 2021 election. Addressing the press, Katumba noted he would fight unemployment and land grabbing.

"I am going to fight poverty. Poverty is everywhere. There is nothing impossible," Katumba said.

He also noted that he would fight for woman empowerment and make sure the women are safe, sound and rich.

This won't stop me from thinking about our brothers and father," Katumba said.

"He promised to work on human trafficking and will ensure young Ugandans who are taken to work abroad are not mistreated," he said.

He noted that the Ugandan currency was devalued and Uganda was importing more and exporting less and yet the companies importing were not owned by Ugandans.

He added that he has a dream of making Uganda a great nation and would ensure he builds high-quality roads contracted by Ugandan companies.

Katumba also noted that he would ensure all Ugandans own houses.

He noted that he had chosen a symbol of the table because he wanted everything solved on it.
