Kyagulanyi later posted the letter on social media and said he will respect police’s designated route.

The police have mapped out a route that presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, will use from his home in Magere, Wakiso district to the nomination venue in Kyambogo, Kampala.

According to the route chart, Bobi Wine will travel from his home in Magere, pass via Kumbuzi along Gayaza road, then proceed through Ntinda, Kisaasi, Stretcher road, Spear Motors, Kyambogo University junction, to the nomination venue.

In a letter dated October 31, addressed to Bobi Wine, the police chief, John Martins Okoth Ochola, said they designed the traffic plan for his nomination slated for tomorrow (November 3) to enable his timely travel to and from the nomination venue.

"The Uganda Police Force has made a traffic plan for the nomination exercise to be held on November 2 and 3, 2020. This is to enable your timely travel to and from the nomination venue," Ochola wrote to Bobi Wine, and copied in the Electoral Commission (EC) chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama.

According to Ochola, Bobi Wine will be escorted by police with a lead traffic vehicle/motorcycle to the nomination venue with his team as per the EC guidelines. "We look forward to your positive cooperation in this exercise," said Ochola.

In response, Bobi Wine, who is aspiring to become a president on the National Unity latform (NUP) party ticket, acknowledged receipt of the letter. He later posted the letter on social media and said he will respect police's designated route.

However, Bobi Wine asked police not to harass his supporters once they come to wave at him on his way to and from the nomination venue, adding that after nomination, his team will proceed to the NUP offices in Kamwokya to launch the party manifesto.
