Museveni upbeat about nomination

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential flag-bearer Yoweri Museveni has rallied his supporters ahead of his nomination.

"Thank you NRM for putting confidence in me. I am preparing for nomination this morning and our manifesto launch later today. It's the D-day. Remember, this is about securing your future," Museveni tweeted on Monday morning.

According to the Electoral Commission line-up, Museveni, will be nominated at 10:00am, followed by Henry Tumukunde (Independent), John Katumba (Independent), Mugisha Muntu (Alliance for National Transformation) and Nancy Kalembe (Independent).

On Tuesday, Kyagulanyi will be nominated at 10:00am followed by Willy Mayambala (Independent), Patrick Amuriat of Forum for Democratic Change, Fred Mwesigye and Joseph Kabuleeta, all Independents.

Earlier, the Police issued traffic guidelines to be followed by road users on Monday and Tuesday.

The Police warned that Kyambogo Cricket Grounds, the presidential nomination centre, would only be accessible by people accredited by the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Commander, Norman Musinga, traffic flow along routes leading to and from Kyambogo University will be diverted at Spear Motors, Banda trading centre, Kireka trading centre, Kigobe road at the National Council for Higher Education and at Jokas hotel in Bweyogerere.

"Kyambogo cricket ground (presidential nomination centre) will only be accessible to presidential aspirants, their recommended number of people accredited by EC and EC officials. The accredited VIPs will access the nomination centre through Kyambogo road, Kyambogo University western gate, and park as will be directed by traffic," Musinga said in a statement issued over the weekend.
