KAMPALA - The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat has welcomed singer, Ronald Mayinja to the party.

Speaking on Sunday (November 1, 2020) at the party's weekly press briefing, the NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba, welcomed Miyinja's latest tune, ‘Mzee Akalulu' and rubbished allegations that they paid him money.

"We welcome musician Ronald Mayinja to NRM, but I must say, NRM didn't pay him for the song. He did it on his own as a musician," Lumumba said.

Lumumba said Mayinja has been invited to sing the song for the invited guests on Monday, during the launch of the NRM manifesto.

Mayinja, the former member of Robert Kyagulanyi's National Unity Platform (NUP) did not attend the press but his song has stirred controversy with some people within opposition circles criticising him for abandoning NUP for NRM

Mayinja's song excites NRM secretariats.


However, the seasoned musician has stood his ground, describing NRM and Museveni as one of the most accommodative leaders the country has produced.

After nomination on Monday, Lumumba said, Museveni, will proceed to Speke Resort Munyonyo for the manifesto launch. The manifesto has been crafted under the theme, 'securing your future'.
