Prominent singer Ronald Mayinja has  received mixed reactions to his latest release, another political song called Akalulu kako muzei, literally translated as "the vote is yours old man." Released a few days ago, the song comes a few days after Mayinja made a u-turn from political pressure group People Power.

Posting on his social media handles, the "Africa" singer said he was now a devoted supporter of president Museveni and is hopeful that Museveni will win the elections next year because he has done a lot for the country.

"I'm for Museveni in 2021. He has done a lot of good things for our nation. I will vote for him until 2040. He's got the vision for this country. He's the only man who can lead Uganda to prosperity and transform the lives of the citizens."

Mayinja went on to attack People Power, describing them as hooligans.

"They are actually very (sic) dangerous than Museveni. They don't deserve any leadership position in Uganda... Museveni is the answer to Uganda's problems #SevoAfterSevoAfterSevo," the singer wrote.

His controversial change from camp to camp has left people in the music and political sphere  branding him as confused. He was previously a staunch opposition member. In the recent past, he subscribed to the National Unity Platform.

With his anti-government songs, many have now branded him,"yalidde" meaning that he received money from the president to switch sides.

A few month ago, Mayinja was handed a NUP card signifying that he was a member of the party formed by members of the People Power pressure group
