Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) president Ibrahim Nakadda says the new men's U20 national team assistant coach Dave J Libby will play a big role in the success of the team.

"Dave Libby is a fantastic asset for evolution coaching and will be a huge part of what we are going to be doing moving forward along with head coach Larry Mackey and the rest of the coaching staff.

The new coach (Libby) is set to jet into the country early January and will be doing the work on a voluntary basis to help the team perform well in the tournament in Northern Ireland," stated Nakadda.

In 2009, Libby was selected the Illinois High School Lacrosse ‘Person of the Year' for the role he played in initiating and developing the many lacrosse organisations and structures that expanded the game throughout the state.

An expert in community development and a coach of all levels of the game, Libby specialises in both teaching as well as developing a discovery of the history of the game.

A three-sport college athlete, teacher, and minister, as well as a founder of multiple programs and organisations, such as the Peace Lacrosse the World Campaign, Libby seeks to help kids reach out all over the world through the game of lacrosse and to learn how to best personify the "Creator's Game" in the development of their own life pursuits, passions, and purposes, as well as how to support one another through a community of lacrosse.

His tasks as a coach will be to improve on the players' ball passing skills, defensive and dribbling skills.

There will be tryouts for the national team to represent the country in January at the official training ground at St Henry's Academy in Kabalagala.

The coach will also be tasked to improve on the players' behaviour on and off-pitch.

He will be checking on the dress code and manners of the players in order to prepare them for active and more professional lacrosse in the near future.
