President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the National Resistance Movement supporters for clearing his nomination to carry the party's flag in the 2021 race.

Museveni who will be nominated as NRM presidential flagbearer by the Electoral Commission on November 2, thanked the party for putting confidence in him.

"To the NRM and our supporters, we are on a count down together ahead of the #M7Nomination. Thank you once again for putting confidence in me," Museveni posted on his Twitter handle.

The party earlier presented more than five million signatures to support Museveni's candidature before he was cleared for nominations.

Uganda has close to 19 million voters.

Meanwhile, the EC has queried the signatures submitted by the National Unity Platform flagbearer Robert Kyagulanyi.

Inside sources say whereas some of the signatures presented by Kyagulanyi do not appear on the national voters' register, others had already endorsed different presidential candidates.
