Twinamatsiko quits Kitara just days after securing promotion

The club has already received several applications from top local coaches

Kitara FC might have overcome the greatest hurdle and secured promotion to the Uganda Premier League after edging fancied Kiboga Young 1-0 in the FUFA Big League playoffs final last week.

But the Hoima based side is now facing a new challenge of sorting out its technical team after head coach Mark Twinamatsiko called it quits after earning the club its first stint in the top flight.

Word from the club is that the hunt is on for a suitable replacement for Twinamatsiko who secured promotion against all odds.

"We had issues during the COVID-19 lockdown, and he (Twinamatsiko) eventually signed a contract with another club for this coming season. He will not be with us, so we are now looking for a suitable replacement," said club president Godfrey Bamwenda.

As a requirement by FUFA, all Uganda Premier League head coaches must have a minimum qualification of CAF Level B which according to an insider, Twinamatsiko doesn't have.

However, when contacted, Twinamatsiko said it's not the lack qualifications but rather his personal decision.

"I have the qualifications to manage a club at Uganda Premier League level, so it's not the here but rather a personal decision and when the time for my new club comes, I will let you know," Twinamatsiko said.

Bamwenda said the club has already received several applications from top local coaches, but it's understood that Scottish coach Stephen Pritchard who has managed former Big League sides Kigezi Home Boys and New Villa is among them.

After promotion to the top flight, it was announced that the club would move its home ground from Hoima to Masindi.
