National Council of Sports chairman Dr Donald Rukare has cautioned athletes to be careful with what they eat while at home.
Rukare who is also the Uganda Olympic Committee secretary-general advised the team of athletes who returned from the World Half Marathon including Jacob Kiplimo and world champion Joshua Cheptegei on Thursday at Lugogo.
"Uganda is now a powerhouse in athletics and everyone is targeting us especially at this time when everyone is preparing for the Olympics. So be careful with what you eat and the medicine you take," Rukare said.
He urged them to take advantage of the Uganda Olympic Committee medical team headed by Nana Jacqueline Nakiddu when they are not feeling well.
"You may fall sick and decide to go to a clinic or hospital and they administer a drug that will lead you to fail a doping test," Rukare told the athletes.
So far Uganda has got about 19 athletes including rower Kathleen Grace Noble, Joshua Cheptegei, and Jacob Kiplimo who've qualified for the games.
