Hyundai was given a taste of what lies ahead and with the amount of resistance offered by the Bluefangs
Daudi Okello once again led the Hyundai Capital Skywalkers past a resilient Samsung Bluefangs registering their second win of the season.
The Bluefangs who were home, drew first blood in the encounter taking the first set 25-20. The Skywalkers pulled back by taking the next two sets 25-23, 25-20 before their opponents levelled the match with 25-23 fourth set. Skywalkers rallied and delivered the coup de grâce taking the fifth set 15-11.
"This game was particularly hard because both setters were playing against their former teams. Both switched sides last month after the KOVO Cup which meant they were familiar with the other team's systems," Okello told the New Vision.
That was the problem initially but as the game went on, competitiveness took over as both sides pushed each other to their best.
Hyundai was given a taste of what lies ahead and with the amount of resistance offered by the Bluefangs they learnt a tough lesson. Securing the title this year will not be a walk in the park, it will require juggling the heavy fixture list and picking off opponents.
They play their next game on Wednesday against the Okman. They will go into that match confident they can get the win following their top performance against Samsung.
