LUWERO - Drama unfolded during a High Court session in Luwero when a man who was convicted over defilement begged to be castrated instead of a custodial sentence.

Kassim Kisomoso, was convicted by High Court Judge, Justice Damalie Lwanga, on charges of aggravated defilement.

However, during mitigation, the convict requested court that castration was a better punishment for him than a custodial one because it would permanently deter him from repeating the same vice in future.

However, the trial Judge declined to grant him the same and sentenced him to 30 years' imprisonment.

"The alternative punishment you are seeking is not in the law, I, therefore, sentence you to 30 years in prison. You are also ordered to pay sh400, 000 compensation to the victim you raped because of the physical damage and emotional distress she encountered.

Prosecution led by Beatrice Alok Odong told the court that the convict, also a resident of Busiika town in Bamunanika county in Luwero district, repeatedly defiled his sister in law during September last 2019.

Kisomoso was discovered by his wife who informed the police leading to his arrest last year.
