The Royal Varsani Bucks go into their opening Uganda Elite League (UEL) encounters confident they can win against the Metro Challengers Mambas and Aziz Damani Scorpions on Sunday at Lugogo.

"Mambas are a very good side and a strong team, they have some young boys who are generous about the game. They want to win but my side has one of the most experienced guys. I have six national team players who have been there for 10-years and so gladly will have to take them on," Royal Varsani captain Arnold Otwani said.

Royal Varsani will have to come prepared because regardless of the youthfulness in the side Mambas captain Frank Akankwasa hopes his team brings their best form.

"We are playing the Bucks, and for us to win, we need to bring our x-factor. We have talented players although most of them are young we are going to give them a good game," explained Akankwasa.

Otwani's side then will change focus to the Aziz Damani Scorpions who are more evenly matched in that regard.

"Scorpions is a solid side. They have got some good experienced players just like our side, consisting of the current captain Brian Masaba and former skipper Davis Karashani. So it's going to be a huge one for us to take in, but my side is so ready for them, and we shall play one game at a time," stated Otwani.

All players and teams have been isolated at Namirembe and will stay there during the one week the tournament takes place.

The UEL will mark the first cricket event staged since Uganda went into lockdown. Fans can access matches on cricket Uganda's YouTube channel.
