KAMPALA - The Electoral Commission will Thursday announce the election date for Members of Parliament, the President and local government leaders.

On Tuesday, Parliament tasked the government to announce to the country, the exact date, when Ugandans will vote for their leaders in the forthcoming general elections set for early next year.

Without disclosing the exact date, the Attorney General, William Byaruhanga, told parliament that the electoral commission would announce the date on Thursday at a press conference.

"They will announce election dates tomorrow at a press conference at 10 am at the commission office, they shall, in the same way, announce the polling date for president," Byaruhanga said.

The MPs had expressed concern that the commission had left the candidates in the dark since the election date had not been set by the commission.
