Bodybuilder Safalu Tamale acquires artificial limb

Tamale acquired the sh5m limb with the help of CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and the University of Pain (a fitness organisation) to enable him attain his dream of becoming Mr. Kampala and Mr. Uganda some day.

Safalu Tamale, the bodybuilder who lost his right leg in an accident hopes for a brighter future after acquiring an artificial limb.

Tamale acquired the sh5m limb with the help of CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and the University of Pain (a fitness organisation) to enable him attain his dream of becoming Mr. Kampala and Mr. Uganda some day.

Jemaima Nalujja, a doctor in the orthopedic workshop of the hospital fabricated the artificial limb after measurements and getting a negative cast.

She got a positive cast which was used to produce a socket which is worn on the remaining part of the limb, assemble the joint and artificial foot which were got from abroad.

"Safalu has been a very good patient and he is learning so fast how to use the limb," Nalujja said.

"The type of limb will enable him in his daily work of gym instruction which was his job before the accident because the limb can allow him to do some squats. I'm happy that Tamale is going to spread the gospel of hope to people that there is life after amputation."

Tamale who was involved in an accident last February that led to his leg being amputated was grateful to the University of Pain for all they have done for him during the trying moments. He also thanked CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital for the physical, moral, and financial support which has enabled him to recovery.

Milton Akuha who doubles as Mr. Kampala and Manager University of pain gym revealed that lack of proper communication channels during the tough times of COVID 19 led to the delay in the treatment and rehabilitation of Tamale. However, they decided to take him as one of their employees.

"Tamale is officially employed as a worker of the University of Pain and will continue chasing his goal in bodybuilding," reasoned Akuha.

Mr. Uganda Isaac Muhikirwa who is also employed by the University of pain as a trainer is excited to work with Tamale.

"We are happy that our colleague is back on his feet. I look forward to competing with him in the forth-coming competitions," Muhikirwa pointed out.

Davide Naggi, the CEO of CoRSU said the hospital was well-positioned to give hope to many people.
