Court ruled that the decision to remove Yusuf Lule from the presidency in June 1979, was unconstitutional.

The Uganda court of appeals ruled that NCC had wrongfully dropped Yusuf Lule from the presidency. The National Consultative Commission, a quasi-parliament that had elected him to power, accused him of managing government appointments without consulting with the Commission. To this effect, he was overthrown on June 20, 1979 by the commission. The court ruled that the decision to remove Yusuf Lule from the presidency in June 1979, was unconstitutional. The appeal was presented to the court by Paul Ssemwogerere and Andrew Kayiira and presided over by Chief Justice Samuel Wambuzi.
