My shady neighbour is trying to steal my maid

Oct 20, 2020

A neighbour told me that Yvette offered Jovia sh300k to leave my household for hers and I am shaken.

My neighbour Yvette changes maids like hankies and she has now set her eyes on my Jovia. One time, she had six of them in a space of just one month.
I have trained Jovia all these years and she is just the best. She looks after the kids very well and is superb at doing house chores. When my husband and I are out hustling for money, Jovia is on top of things at home. We trust her wholeheartedly and appreciate how hard it is to get a good maid. Recently, Jovia asked for a raise and I told her to wait a bit because we are currently financially strained. Taata Junior lost his good job during the COVID period and is currently doing kyeyo; so we are struggling.

Last month, Yvette approached me about letting my maid train hers and I agreed; but she chased the girl away two weeks later, saying she was dirty and had a bad attitude. Recently, a neighbour told me that Yvette offered Jovia sh300k to leave my household for hers and I am shaken; we pay Jovia sh150k.

I asked Jovia whether Yvette had really approached her and she admitted it. She said Yvette has been trying to lure her for a while now, but she has not given an answer. My fear is that Jovia may eventually leave us for Yvette because the money is very attractive and we cannot compete. What should I do?
