The Acting Executive Director Microfinance Support Centre, Petronika Hellen Masika, has explained how far they have reached with the enrollment of EMYOOGA programme.

Speaking to representatives of EMYOOGA coordinator at the launch of programmes in Makindye and Rubaga Monday, Masika, said they have so far formed 64751 associations and 1373 SACCOS for EMYOOGA.

Masika explained that by December, all the districts will have the EMYOOGA SACCOs as planned, adding that they have moved and launched the programmes in all districts of Uganda and they will end with Wakiso.

"We shall be done with Kampala in Kawempe and Kampala Central tomorrow," Masika said.

She explained that the process of registration and information is ongoing and they plan to start off or launch a disbursement by December in all districts.

"People should expect money next week, we wanted to first finish the launch of Wakiso which is the last district, and then we disburse money," Masika said.

Haruna Kasolo, the State Minister for Microfinance, explained the motivation of sensitising the leaders who will coordinate the programmes.

"Kampala no longer shines like those days when it was known for money-making where people who originated or stayed in the city were respected," he said.

Kasolo explained that whereas there were many initiatives introduced to help alleviate poverty in Uganda, they had not achieved their target, prompting president Museveni to make a case for job and wealth creation.

"So we have to come back to our senses by embracing the EMYOOGA programme brought by the President which does not discriminate against any party," Kasolso said.
