Jackson Atima wins NRM flag for Arua Central

Atima garnered 4,345 votes while Robert Ejiku got 4,201 votes.

Arua - Jackson Atima has been declared the winner of the Arua Central National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections.

Atima garnered 4,345 votes while Robert Ejiku got 4,201 votes.

The election that was supposed to take place on Wednesday flopped due to a fracas that culminated in the use of teargas by the Police to disperse the supporters.

 

The Thursday election took place amid heavy deployment of Police in the three cells of Baruku central, Ozua in Kenya ward, and Ojulua in Pangisa wards of Arua central division.

The party registrar of Arua city, Hamza Atibo Ali, declared Atima in the absence of his opponent Ejiku.

He said the first election Atima got 4,116, compared to Ejiku's 3,950 votes.
Atima's supporters started a procession to celebrate his win in Arua town but they were intercepted by the Police.
