Kiiza revealed that 32 schools had not been recommended for re-opening for failure to meet the standard operating procedures set by the Government.

REOPENING OF SCHOOL

Thirty-two schools in Masindi district have not yet been cleared for reopening after failing to meet the requirements.

Seventy-two out of 104 schools that have been inspected in Masindi district have been cleared to reopen.

This was revealed by the district inspector of schools, Monica Kiiza, during a headteachers' meeting held at Masindi Public Primary School in Masindi town Wednesday (October 14, 2020).

Kiiza said 62 primary schools out of 94 inspected in the district had been recommended for re-opening, while 10 out of the 11 secondary schools inspected had been recommended for re-opening.

Seven primary schools have been authorised to re-open as boarding schools and the rest as day schools.

Kiiza revealed that 32 schools had not been recommended for re-opening for failure to meet the standard operating procedures set by the Government.

"I blame the failure by schools to qualify on the laxity of the management committees and the headteachers," Kiiza said.

Masindi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Martin Mugabi, warned the schools that have not been cleared for re-opening against doing so, saying security teams will close those that do not have COVID-19 certificates of compliance.
