HOMES & CONSTRUCTION

Changing a house roof doesn't come easy, by the time one is done with it, he or she would have spent quite an amount of money, says Julius Buyondo who recently had his house roof changed by his children.

Previously, he had roofed his five bedroomed house with iron sheets that were red in color but after his children graduated and made it in life, they decided to have the roof of their home changed.

"At first, we thought we would have a tiled roof understanding the modalities involved in changing a roof to a tile one, we realised it was impossible," says Justine Kayondo, the daughter of Buyondo.

"We had all the money that was required to change our house roof but given the years the house had stayed, we were advised that not to go for a tiled roof," adds Kayondo.

She explains that a tiled roof could be too heavy for their house, so they settled for a versatile but still achieved the look they were yarning for.

Construction experts say having house roofs changed is trending that today people with well-off families are opting to upgrade their house roofs.

Before you decide on what kind of roof you tend to go for, put in mind the structure of a house

Those with low roofs are trying to make them a bit high and those with very high ones are making them a little low.  Whichever way you intend to change your roof, consider the following;

The type of house and how it was built
