COVID-19 infections have risen to 826 cases; Uganda Prison Services have said.

"Of these, 587 have recovered while 239 prisoners are still undergoing treatment," Frank Baine, the Prisons spokesperson, said on Monday.

Baine said none of the prisoners is symptomatic and he expected them to make a 100% recovery from the disease.

Due to the outbreak, the prisons service has since declared two of its prisons — Kauga and Kasangati— as isolation centres of its prisoners infected with the virus.

There are 60,000 inmates in the country's prisons countrywide according to the Prison services.
