Mother burns daughter over a piece of meat, arrested

Jamila Mutesi is reported to have burnt the fingers of her seven-year-old daughter she accused of stealing a piece of meat from the saucepan.

IGANGA - The Police in Iganga are holding a 39-year-old woman for causing grievous bodily harm to her seven-year-old daughter.

The accused, Jamila Mutesi, a resident of Nampirika village, Nakalama sub county, is reported to have burnt the fingers of her seven-year-old daughter she accused of stealing a piece of meat from the saucepan.

The LC1 chairperson of Nampirika village, Dismus Nyonyi, said residents rushed to the scene and rescued the girl after she made an alarm.

They said this was the third time the mother was torturing her.

The accused had two months ago made a statement before the LC1 court promising never to torture her daughter again.

The victim is admitted at Iganga Main Hospital. The Iganga district Police chief, Davis Ndawula, said the accused is to soon appear before court to answer the charges.
