Former Criminal Investigations Department director Chris Bakiza denied that he was arrested with his wife, Esther while trying to cross into Kenya with Kenyan passports. However, security sources insisted that they had arrested him after a tip-off at Majanji landing site on Lake Victoria. They were taken to Kampala for surveillance and further investigations into why he was trying to leave the country before the findings of Ssebutinde's commission were made public. Justice Julia Ssebutinde had investigated Bakiza and the Police Force for abuse of office and covering up cases.
