The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has chosen Saturday October 10, 2020 as voting day for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) representatives in the party primaries.

SIGs representatives include Youth, People with Disabilities, Workers and Older Persons.

Addressing the press at the party head office in Kampala Tuesday, the EC vice chairperson, John Arimpa Kigyagi said the exercise is to start with displaying of voter's registers at the party district offices for review and corrections.

This will take place at party district offices on October 7, to October 8, 2020.

"All queries found on the register are to be reported to the district EC officer not to officials at the head offices. Officers on ground know voters better than us at Kyadondo," he said.

Kigyagi said voting will be of electoral colleges.

Voting for Youth and Older Persons will be by lining up behind a candidate or their pictures whereas that of Workers and PWDs will be by signing against a candidates' name just like it was in Central Executive Committee elections.

However five candidates including Sharifar Birungi, who was contesting on Youth representative Central region have pulled out of the race.

Eligibility of a voter

The election exercise will not be open to all members of the party but to only leaders of the above mentioned groups in the party and those at districts and municipalities.
