KAMPALA - Democratic Party (DP) has unveiled Charles Senkubuge as the party's flag bearer for the Lord Mayor seat in the forthcoming General Elections, 2021.
Addressing DP members at the party headquarters in Kampala, Tuesday, Nobert Mao, the party's President General, said that after their candidate was disqualified by the Electoral Commission last week and therefore, they had to front another candidate.
‘'DP is a very resourceful party with people who are professional and intelligent that at such a short notice where our candidate was denied nomination, we have been able to choose Sekunbuge to represent the party," Mao said.
Mao revealed that Senkubuge is an artist with a lot of talent, believing that he will represent the party confidently.
In his speech, Senkubuge assured DP members that he is ready to bring a win as Lord Mayor of Kampala.
He however, apologised for having withdrawn from the Presidential race in 2001, adding that his withdrawal affected his political will of standing to represent Busiro South.
Senkubuge was nominated on Monday by the Electoral Commission in Ntinda offices, Kampala and he was unveiled to DP supporters on Tuesday.
