Justice Gadenya undergoes surgery

The trio were injured in a road accident that took place near Masindi town and were yesterday airlifted to Kampala aboard a Military Chopper.

Masindi Resident High Court judge Paul Wolimbwa Gadenya, who was involved in a road accident on Monday has undergone surgery at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

A source who declined to be named told Newvision that Justice Gadenya, 51, underwent surgery on his fractured arm and one of his legs

The source also said the judge is largely stable and able to communicate with his family members and the medical team at the said hospital.

The judge's bodyguard CPL Opoka George, who sustained a fractured leg, remains in hospital while the driver Ian Sam Akampa was discharged on Monday evening.

The Judiciary's Principle Communications Officer Solomon Muyita said the judge's vehicle Prado registration number UG 0781J had a head-on collision with a truck registration Number UBH 831 that reportedly joined the main road recklessly.

The Chief Registrar, Sarah Langa, disclosed that the judge and his team were first admitted at Kitara Medical Centre in Masindi for first aid before being airlifted to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala for better medical attention.

An eyewitness, Chris Businge narrates that incident occurred at 9:30am when the driver of the Fuso abruptly branched off the road and the judge's vehicle that was heading to Masindi knocked it on the passenger's side.

He said the judge who was in the behind seat fell on the vehicle's dashboard and sustained injuries on the legs and head.







Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying that it was a serious accident and the judge was seriously injured.

"The driver of the fuso truck remains at large.
